QUETTA (Dunya News) - The budget for Balochistan for the upcoming fiscal year 2026–27 will be presented today (Wednesday). Balochistan's Finance Minister, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, will present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year during the afternoon session of the Balochistan Assembly.
The total size of Balochistan’s budget for the next fiscal year is expected to exceed Rs 1.1 trillion. According to government sources, Balochistan’s estimated revenue from federal transfers for the upcoming fiscal year is more than Rs. 795.13 billion. Of this, approximately Rs. 771.39 billion is expected to come from the divisible pool of federal taxes.
In addition, revenue of around Rs. 23.74 billion is expected through direct transfers from various gas-related sources, while revenue from taxes falling under the province’s jurisdiction is estimated at more than Rs. 150 billion.
Sources said that non-development expenditures for the next fiscal year are expected to exceed Rs. 700 billion, while development expenditures are likely to range between Rs. 250 billion and Rs. 300 billion.
Government sources stated that the upcoming fiscal year's budget is also expected to be surplus. Priority is being given to the education, health, and water sectors, while larger allocations are being proposed for law and order and highway construction projects.
Sources added that more than Rs. 160 billion is likely to be allocated to the education sector, while the health sector is expected to receive over Rs. 85 billion. More than Rs. 100 billion is expected to be allocated for law and order in the provincial budget, while over Rs. 40 billion is being earmarked for the Communications and Works Department.
Government sources further stated that more than Rs. 17 billion is likely to be allocated to the provision of clean drinking water. In addition, in line with the federal government's announcement, an increase in salaries and pensions for government employees is also expected.
